PROJECT Show NY : Day One Recap

Sunday, July 22nd, I made my way up to Soho (NY) to attend the opening day of PROJECT SHOW. PROJECT Show is the bi-annual menswear trade show that takes place in New York & Las Vegas. Get ready for some spectacular exhibits, showcasing some of the best in menswear for the 2013 spring season. Not only is PROJECT a great time to peruse what gear will be hot next year, it’s the time when style bloggers, buyers and magazine editors come together in one place to enjoy laughs, damn good music and some quality booze (courtesy of Tanteo Tequila).

There were a fair amount of exhibits at PROJECT that were really unique to the venue such as Rudy’s Barbershop, which were dishing out haircuts, beard trimming and trims. For those of us that needed a quick pick-me-up, there was a complimentary coffee bar which was stocked and manned by La Colombe Coffee (which really helped to get my day started). One of the standout features from PROJECT was the Blogger Project lounge area, where nine different bloggers were doing what they do best by recapping their live experience and favorite things from the three-day event (denimtherapy.com, freshnessmag.com , twoinchcuffs.com, porhomme.com, thedenimguy.com, slamxhype.com, tuckedstyle.com, lavish-livez.com & marcustroy.com). Sandbox Studio was set up to provide complimentary studio time for attendees, stylists and media.

Some of my favorite Brands From PROJECT SHOW NY 2012

Ghurka (Leather Bags & Small Leather Goods)

  • The best luxury leather bags and small leather goods around.
  • They have a variety of of bags in all leather and combination of leather/canvas.

Fin’s For Him

  • Amazing loafers, drives and casual espadrilles in a variety of eye-catching but subtle colors. Based in London.

Zen Mechanics

  • Quality linen tops and patterned, tailored shorts.

Some other notable brands worth checking out: Revolution Now, HEX, Herschel Supply & Del Toro Shoes.

When is the next trade show? Did you have to get an invite?

If you head to http://www.ProjectShow.com you will see that there are August dates, but, they are in Las Vegas. Project Show does come around again during January. You can register on the site when the next shows come around. Unfortunately, today is the last day in NYC.
